Day 1: Arrive in Beijing

Avatar Adventure & Ancient Towns: 9-Day Chongqing to Zhangjiajie

Day 1: Arrive in Chongqing Airport/Train Station

  • Pick-up and hotel check-in.

Day 2: The Heart of the Mountain City

  • Highlights: Start at the iconic Liberation Monument and sample local snacks at Bayi Delicious Street. Marvel at the futuristic Raffles City Chongqing before taking evening photos at Qiansimen Bridge and the stunning, illuminated Hongya Cave.

Day 3: Historic Walkways & Cable Cars

  • Highlights: Hike the scenic Mountain City Walkway and discover the restored history of Eighteen Steps (Shibati) and Huguang Guild Hall. Wander through Longmen Hao Old Street, watch the famous light rail train pass straight through a residential building at Liziba Station, and take a thrilling ride across the river on the Yangtze River Cable Car.

Day 4: High-Speed Rail to Phoenix (Fenghuang)

  • Highlights: Take the high-speed train from Chongqing West to Fenghuang Gucheng (approx. 3.5 to 4 hours). Spend the afternoon wandering the Phoenix Old Town riverside to see the traditional wooden stilted houses and the iconic Tuo River stepping stones.

Day 5: Phoenix Cultural Immersion & Furong

  • Highlights: Enjoy a morning wooden boat ride on the Tuo River and explore local Miao minority handicrafts. In the late afternoon, take a 30-minute high-speed train to Furong Ancient Town to witness the village’s famous waterfall lit up against the cliffs at night.

Day 6: The Waterfall Village to Zhangjiajie

  • Highlights: A morning walk through the historic flagstone streets of Furong and the Tusi King’s Palace. Take a quick 25-minute high-speed train to Zhangjiajie for evening check-in and a dinner of local Tujia minority specialties like Three-Down-Pot.

Day 7: The Avatar Hallelujah Mountains

  • Highlights: Enter the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and ride the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest outdoor lift. Explore the Yuanjiajie area to see the pillars that inspired the film Avatar and finish at the high peaks of Tianzi Mountain for panoramic views.

Day 8: Heaven’s Gate & Glass Bridge

  • Highlights: Experience the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and walk across the world’s longest glass bridge in the morning. In the afternoon, take the cable car up Tianmen Mountain to see the massive natural arch and walk the cliffside glass skywalks.

Day 9: Zhangjiajie Departure

  • Highlights: A relaxed morning visit to the 72 Qilou, a record-breaking tall Tujia building, for final photos and souvenir shopping before your transfer to Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (DYG).
